DUBAI: The value of a 63.856 kg, 21-carat gold ring on display in Dubai has explosion up due to the spiraling price of the yellow metal.

The ring, which has a Guinness Book of World Records for being the world's biggest gold ring, is on display at the Deira Gold Souq (market) in Dubai.

According to its owners, its value has multiplied more than a few times over the years, due to the record gold price now.

This is the world's biggest gold ring and we have displayed it on behalf of Taiba, the Saudi Arabian jewellery maker who made this unique piece in 2000 when the gold price was only USD 250 per bit".

"Now the price of gold has gone up to USD 1,500 per ounce, so you can imagine how much chance the idle gold ring has brought to its owner," Dhanak told Emirates 24/7.

"The ring is currently owned by Taiba, but we have displayed it to support much smaller wearable rings.

In this Najmat Taiba ring has a 2,200-mm perimeter, a 700-mm outer perimeter, a 490-mm inside diameter, 500-mm width on its back and 250-mm width on the ring bottom.

India Gems & Jewelry Exports increase 47%

MUMBAI – India's gems and jewelry exports jumped 47% last financial year during March because of higher prices and improved demand, the Gem and Jewellery Export support Council said Tuesday.

The country exported gems and jewelry value $43.1 billion in the year ended March 31, compared with $29.4 billion in 2009-10.

"India today is looked leading as one of the leading players in the global arena. We believe that this growth path will maintain in the coming year as well," said Rajiv Jain, he is an chairman of the trade body.

He expects gems and jewelry exports to increase 15%-20% in 2011-12.

Growth in exports during 2010-11 was mainly driven by shipments of cut and polished diamonds, which enlarged 55% to $28.3 billion. Exports of gold jewelry counting medallions and coins climbed 33% to $12.9 billion.

The United Arab Emirates was the biggest export destination, accounting for 47% of the total shipments, followed by Hong Kong at 22% and the U.S. at 11%.

Mr. Jain said, the government board, which is the largest trade body representing the trade in India, is targeting major markets such as China, Russia, the U.S. and Europe for buyer seller meetings to increase exports.

The council will now focus on promoting India as a design destination globally, quite than just a trading hub.
Gem and jewelry exports account for nearly 17% of India's annual product exports.

Israeli Diamond Industry Reports Strong in First Quarter 2011

Diamond News : The Israeli diamond industry to be announced increases in exports and imports of both refined and rough diamonds for the first quarter of 2011.

The IDI said net polished diamond exports rise 45.7 percent to reach $2.1 billion, compared to $1.4 billion from January to March 2010.

Net rough diamond exports for the first quarter increased 39.6 percent to $1.2 billion, it compared to $829 million in the first quarter of 2010.

Net imports of polished diamonds rose 24.9 percent to $1.1 billion, from January to March 2011, compared to $916 million previous year.

Net rough diamond imports enlarged 48.5 percent to $1.2 billion, compared to $831 million in the first quarter of 2010.

The United States was in charge for 45 percent of total exports, remaining Israel’s largest market. The Net polished exports to the U.S. were $694 million.

Gitanjali Group plans to Exposed New Love Universe Jewelry brand

Gitanjali Group, India's largest jewelry retailer, plans to expose its new Love Universe jewelry brand at the JCK Las Vegas exhibition in June.

Love Universe brand jewelry skin diamonds and colored gemstones set in silver and gold.

The company describes the pieces as instead of a look and feel for "today's fashionable, creative woman looking to wear contemporary, high quality, affordable luxury."

Love Universe will also feature collections intended in collaboration with artists, models, and celebrities. Once the product hits the retail market, the pieces will sell for $300-$1,200.
